Friends of Medalta Society

Mission: The Friends of Medalta Society fosters an understanding and appreciation of the Medicine Hat Clay Industries National Historic District, its importance in the development of Medicine Hat and its impact across Canada through collection, preservation, exhibition and interpretation. Vision: Medalta Potteries and Hycroft China, in the context of the Medicine Hat Clay Industries National Historic District, work together to form a living-working museum, providing year round interpretive and educational programming. The operation of this facility is funded by income generated by in-house manufacturing, retail sales, admissions and educational programming, and through strategic partnerships. Aims: - To preserve and restore the original buildings of Medalta Potteries and Hycroft China. - To preserve and restore vintage machinery, manufacturing equipment and tools used in the pottery industry. - To demonstrate the manufacturing process of clay products, employing both traditional and contemporary methods. - To collect, preserve, document, research, study and exhibit archival materials that relate to the function, operation and production of the Medicine Hat Clay Industries National Historic District. - To provide a facility that will serve the public, collectors and researchers in their pursuit of knowledge about the Medicine Hat Clay Industries National Historic District. - To provide educational programming at all levels, relative to the production of clay products.

Hours of operation: Summer Season (Victoria Day to Labour Day): 9:30am to 5:00pm Daily. Winter Season (September to Mid-May): 10:00am to 4:00pm Tuesday - Friday.
